Cecil Baltzar Jacobson

Cecil Baltzar Jacobson, age 92, died October 10, 2002 of Cancer.
Born Jan 31, 1910 in Salt Lake City to Baltzar Hans (BH) and Sarah
Rebecca Stay Jacobson, the second of nine children. He married Irene
Elizabeth Coleman, affectionately known as Vardie,
in the Salt Lake Temple June 6, 1934 and together they raised four sons
and one daughter. After her death he married Rose Conder Lewis Oct 29,
1992.

He was employed 32 years by the Bureau of Reclamation and assisted in
formulating the upper Colorado River Basin Compact and the planning of
the Upper Colorado Storage Project. His expertise was also utilized by
the countries of Morocco, Brazil, Philippines and the Mekong River
Countries of Southeast Asia. In recognition of his Colorado River
accomplishments and his foreign activities, he received the US
Department of Interior Meritorious Award. He retired from federal
service in 1965 to accept a position with the Upper Colorado Commission
and later with BYU as professor of civil engineering. He was an active
member of the LDS Church and served a full time mission with his wife
Vardie.

He is survived by his wife Rose; four sons; one daughter, Vardie Anne;
stepson, William; 33 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; brother,
Joseph; and two sisters, Margaret, Catherine.
Services will be at the Suncrest Tenth Ward chapel, 90 N. 6th W, Orem,
UT 12 noon Wed. Oct 16, 2002. Friends may call 6-8 p.m.,
Holladay-Cotton-wood Mortuary, 4670 S. Highland Dr, Holladay Tues. Oct
15, 2002 and at the chapel one hour before the funeral. Interment,
Holladay Memorial Park, 4900 S. Memory Lane (1920 E).
