Colonel John Chidester Dead.
CAMERON, Mo., March 8. -- Colonel John Chidester, known the country over as the original overland mail carrier, died at his residence in this city of a complication of diseases, abetted by old age. In the antebellum days and for a long time after the war Colonel Chidester held government contracts for carrying the mails over the greater portion of the southern states.
